This video shows the need for clean water, safe food, and medical care in Ghana in West Africa. The slide show uses “There Will Be A Day” by Jeremy Camp. The work shown in the video is accomplished with Rotary matching grants in partnership with the Carter Center, Ghana Health Services, Project C.U.R.E. and the United Methodist Church.
Trip To Build Fresh Water Wells in Africa by Walter Hughes
This shows a celebration of three new wells in Nabari, Ghana. It also shows repaired pumps in Tamale, Atebubu and other cities in Ghana. The work is done by Rotary Foundation grants. We are also in partnership with Carter Center to eliminate the guinea worm parasite by 2010.

Mission Expo starts at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 22nd.
United Methodist Church mission groups are invited to set-up their booth or display in the Community Room at Community Market in Danville at “The Crossing of the Dan.”
The Community Room can hold up to 60 booths approximately 10 x 10 feet. Table and chairs will be provided for each booth. Some electrical hook-ups are available on a first come, first served basis.

Sara Elizabeth interviews Ferrum College Chaplain Wes Astin about his mission trips and the impact of Mission Celebration weekend in May.
Wes tells us of his most memorable experience on a trip to Guatemala where the students donated all of their shoes to the workers who had none. Wes goes on to explain that it’s stories like this that people will hear and share all during the Mission Celebration weekend event in Danville.

The popular Christian rock band Mercy Me will appear in concert at the Carrington Pavilion in Danville, Virginia on May 22nd at 7:30 pm as part of the Mission Celebration event sponsored by the United Methodist Church Danville District.

Mercy Me is set to arrive in Danville around noon. Special thanks to Chick-fil-a for providing lunch to the band and crew.
Then the band will volunteer to help with a local mission project for the afternoon before they take the stage at 7:30 pm.
